About
Mel Franco is a multidisciplinary filmmaker, editor, and visual storyteller whose work spans photography, graphic design, documentary filmmaking, and media arts education. Shaped by the creative spirit of her father — a painter, filmmaker, and music lover — she has spent her life exploring the intersection of sound, visuals, and narrative.
For over five years, Mel has taught photography, documentary filmmaking, and video editing to students from middle school to college across California school districts. She has also built a career in marketing within the music industry- creating content for festivals, clubs, collectives, and DJs/producers. Her work consistently centers women: she has directed, shot, and edited three documentaries highlighting women in the EDM scene and served as DP on several other documentaries and short films.
Mel believes in the power that lies within the intersection between film/media and electronic dance music. She consistently strives to transform the way women are represented on/behind screen and making creative career's more acessible to women.
